Q&A

Let your audience ask questions from their phones while you present, and turn the ones you want to answer into slides.

Q&A lives in follow mode. While your session is live, everyone following along gets a Q&A panel under the slide. They can ask questions, see what others asked and upvote the questions they want answered. You see the same list in the notes view, ranked by votes.

Q&A is not a slide type. It is a panel that is available throughout the session.

Q&A is on by default for every presentation. To switch it off:

  1. Open the presentation in the editor
  2. Open the presentation settings
  3. Turn off Enable Q&A

With Q&A off, the panel is hidden in follow mode and participants can’t ask questions.

The audience can use Q&A when all of these are true:

  • Your session is live
  • Q&A is enabled for the presentation
  • The current slide is not a live interaction: a poll, Likert or feedback slide

On those slides the panel steps aside, so the audience focuses on answering. It comes back on the next slide.

In follow mode, the audience:

  1. Opens the Q&A panel under the slide
  2. Types in the Ask a question… field
  3. Presses Ask (or Enter; Shift+Enter adds a new line)

The question appears in the list right away. There is no approval step.

  • Names are optional. Participants can add a name with Set name. It is remembered on their device and shown under their questions. Without a name, the question is anonymous. No email address is asked for.
  • Length. Questions are cut off at 600 characters, names at 60.
  • Withdrawing. Participants can cancel their own question with the ✕ button, until you have promoted it.
  • Collapsing. Hide questions folds the panel away; the choice is remembered on the device.

Every participant can upvote questions with the ▲ button:

  • One vote per question per device
  • You can’t upvote your own question
  • Promoted questions can no longer be voted on

The list is ranked with promoted questions first, then by number of votes, then oldest first. It updates live for everyone.

Open the notes view on your laptop or phone. Its Q&A panel shows each question with the asker’s name (or “Anonymous”) and the vote count. Long questions can be expanded.

For each question you can:

  • Add next slide - insert the question as a slide right after the current one
  • Add to end - append it as a slide at the end of the deck
  • Remove - take it out of the list for everyone

These buttons appear for organization admins.

Promoting a question turns it into a chapter title slide with the question as its title. The slide:

  • is added to the presentation itself, and to each of its translations
  • carries the original question and the asker’s name in its speaker notes
  • shows up in your running presentation straight away, so you can navigate to it

In follow mode, the question is marked Will be addressed (added to the deck). It stays in the list and can no longer be upvoted, cancelled or removed.

Promoted slides stay in the presentation after the session. Delete them in the editor if you don’t want to keep them.

Questions belong to the live session. When the session closes, they are deleted. A session that has been idle for more than 24 hours is closed automatically.

There is no export of questions. If you want to keep a question, promote it: the slide and its notes stay in your presentation.
