Version History
Version history contains automatic snapshots and save points for a presentation. Open Versions from the editor’s More menu.
Browse versions
Section titled “Browse versions”The list shows each version’s label or reason, author, time, and slide count when available. Each row offers Preview, Compare, Export, and Restore. Preview shows the saved presentation. Compare places that snapshot beside the current presentation and marks added, removed, modified, and unchanged slides. Export downloads the saved version as JSON.
People who can read the presentation can retrieve its versions. Creating a save point or restoring requires edit access, which includes edit collaborators.
Save points and automatic snapshots
Section titled “Save points and automatic snapshots”Choose Create save point in the versions dialog to capture the current presentation. You can give it a label. The editor also requests a snapshot when an editing session ends, including after five minutes without edits. A save that merges concurrent changes can create a safety snapshot, and restoring attempts a backup of the current state first.
Version storage keeps the newest 50 snapshots per presentation when pruning runs. Save points are part of that limit. There is no date-based daily or weekly retention schedule in this release.
Restore a version
Section titled “Restore a version”Choose Restore on the version you want and confirm. The editor saves outstanding changes first; if that save fails, it stops the restore. The server attempts a backup snapshot of the current state before replacing it with the chosen version. Restore checks the current revision to prevent overwriting a newer change. After a successful restore, the editor reloads.
Restore replaces the presentation as a whole. The versions dialog does not provide a partial slide restore or a manual version deletion control.
